About Us

Who We Are

Saanich Organics is a community of farmers from small, certified organic farms who work together to supply fresh local produce and top-quality organic seeds to Greater Victoria BC. Heather Stretch of Northbrook Farm, Robin Tunnicliffe of Sea Bluff Farm, and Rachel Fisher of Three Oaks Farm have co-owned the business since 2002, and we work with several other farmers in and around greater Victoria. Heather, Robin and Rachel are also the authors of All The Dirt, Reflections on Organic Farming.

Saanich Organics has been featured in numerous publications, including the National Post, Times Colonist, West Jet’s Up! Magazine, EAT Magazine, Douglas Magazine, BC Business, Boulevard Magazine, The Jewish Independent, and The Province. The business has also been featured in Island on the Edge (a documentary film), as well as on CBC Radio.

What We Do

We co-operate and support each other in many ways, and through Saanich Organics we get as much fresh, delicious, healthy, local, certified organic produce as we can on to tables in and around Victoria. We sell at the Moss Street Market and the James Bay Market. We run a residential box delivery program, and our commercial division that serves restaurants and grocery stores. Our seed company, Seeds of the Revolution, serves our local area through Seedy Saturdays and various retail outlets, and all of Canada via our online seed store.

Why We Do It

We are passionate about the importance of good farming. We are creating a viable alternative to industrial agriculture. Our farms support biodiversity and practice soil conservation, humane living conditions of farm animals and high labour standards.

We find deep satisfaction in working hard in our small corner of the food system to do things better. We strive to sustain our agricultural land, our community, our families, and ourselves by growing and marketing top quality organic fruits and vegetables for families in and around Victoria.

Work With Us

Employment

Every year we hire staff for our farms and for the marketing side of Saanich Organics. We have a greenhouse manager, field hands, administration, farmers’ market attendants and box packing jobs. If you are interested please submit your CV by email info@saanichorganics.com

Volunteering

If you would like to eat more of our organic produce, but have more time than money, we encourage you to come out and do a trade for food. We accept a range of volunteer commitments, but it works best if volunteers can commit to coming out on a regular basis because we can be prepared to have something interesting for you to do.

Please email us at info@saanichorganics.com to let us know if you are interested in any of these opportunities.

Check back periodically for openings, or get in touch in January regarding next season.
