Coreopsis (Tickseed) Flower
Coreopsis (Tickseed) Flower
These sprays of small yellow flowers will bloom from summer till late fall and may be the last thing still looking good in your garden when the frosts come! They are wonderful cut flowers for filling out bouquets and once established are tolerant of heat, humidity and drought. Grow in the ground or in containers and attract loads of beneficial insects and nectar feeding birds! They prefer full sun and good drainage, but can tolerate some shade.
Sow direct after danger of frost has passed or start in a greenhouse or cloche 6 weeks earlier and plant out when soil is ready. Seeds should be sown very shallowly or on the surface as they need light to germinate. Plant out or thin to 12-18″ apart. Deadhead or cut back plants to encourage re-blooming. Coreopsis is a self-sowing annual so allow to go to seed for new plants next spring!
