Cosmic Purple Carrot

Deep purple to reddish skin and classic orange on the inside these carrots really stand out. They are sweet with just a hint of spice. Developed by Dr. Philipp Simon and staff at the USDA ARS in Madison, Wisconsin in 2005.

Carrots are difficult to grow for seed here on the coast because they cross with the wild carrot, Queen Anne’s Lace. So we source this seed from our friend and super seed grower Julie, with Winnow Seed Co in Krestova BC.

70 days to maturity

Direct sow carrots 1/4-1/2″ deep April- July. Make sure to keep seeds damp throughout germination which can take up to 3 weeks in cooler temperatures. Thin carrots to 1-2″ spacing, with rows 6-12″ apart.
